The first day of the Top 2000 blog Party: december 25 2019
My first entry: nr1839 Green Eyes from Coldplay
I am not much of a face drawing person, but if I do make a face it is with green eyes. My own eyes are also green with brown. Mind you not as green as the drawing i made here. Made this drawing using india ink and acrylic ink with some added color using ecoline markers. Some pencil lines do darken things and her are the Green Eyes.
For my second entry of today I used the nr 1821 Living Doll by Cliff Richard and the Young Ones:
For this I let my inner child paint. Played mostly with waterdown gouache and black india ink to make my doll. Faces are difficult especially when they are this small. But as long as I was having fun.
December 26 2019: Day 2 of the TOP 2000 blog party:
I went through the list and decided to use the songs I will show you here:
Nr 1718 Little Red Rooster by The Rolling Stones:
The focus of this page would be a red rooster. Thinking about colors I decided to make a christmas color page. For me the ultimate colors for Christmas are green and red. People who know me well, will also know that Red is a color I do not like. Off and on it will show up in my work, but not very often. So this page with a lot of red is an exception.
I painted the background green and found a picture of a rooster on the internet. Printed the picture, cut it, glued it to my page and gave it a semi-translucent red paint layer. Painting a red rooster all by myself would have been nice, but with two entries a day and christmas celebrations I just did not have the time for that. If you paint over collage with translucent paint, the picture will still be visible for the most part. So that is a great help also if you're not very good at drawing.
I added the title in big letters and filled the rest of the page with a great part of the lyrics of the song. Here is my Little Red Rooster:
Nr 1613 Songbird by Eva Cassidy:
The title songbird made a think about drawing a bird on an old musicpage. So I grabbed a page from my stash and found an image of a bird and draw that directly on the sheet of music paper. I used a charcoal pencil to draw the bird, the branches and the word Songbird. Most a the thick charcoal lines are still visible.
Then I colored it in using mostly india ink from Dr Martin and a bit of acrylic ink from Daler Rowney. I wanted to glue the page in the journal with the other entries but decided to do that in a larger journal. I was afraid that the old paper would brake in half . Now I do not have to bend it.
December 27 2019: Day 3 of the TOP 2000 blog party:
It's day 3 of the Top 2000 blog party and I have again made two pages. Today I had less inspiration and ended up with pages with mostly collage
These are my songs for today:
Nr 1459 Ain't no mountain high enough by Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terell
I used a picture, I think it is from the ANWB magazin and glued that to the page. I was thinking about doing a painted over collage, but decided to leave it like this and just add big handwritten letters on some of the left over of this page. So a different approach again.
Nr 1416 Fire flies by Owl City:
I found a starry background page in my stash of pictures and glued that to the page. Found a fire fly picture on the internet printed 3 of those and painted partly over them using acrylic paint. Since the performing artist is Owl City I thought that adding a picture of an owl would be a nice addition. The owl is slightly painted over and I extended the branch he was sitting on also using acrylic paint.
Maybe not ten million fire flies, but just amagine that the stars are also fireflies. 🙂
thinking about doing a painted over collage, but decided to leave it like this and just add big handwritten letters on some of the left over of this page. So a different approach again.
December 28 2019: Day 4 of the TOP 2000 blog party:
It's day 4 of the Top 2000 blog party and I have again made two pages. Had only one page at first but got inspired last night and made a second page
These are my songs for today:
Nr 1086 Four Seasons in One day by Crowded House
This is the second page I made for the party today. I already had the second and had no inspiration. Loooking over the titles one last time I got thinking about four seasons in one day. I wandered off to a four season mandala I made years ago. In the previous century even. Maybe I could do something with that. I printed my picture and glued it to a page I made black with ink. Then added the title around the painting with some dots and mooncycles.
leave it like this and just add big handwritten letters on some of the left over of this page. So a different approach again.
Nr 880 Spread your wings by Queen
When i saw the tittle spread your wings I immediately thought of a flying bird. Found this beautiful swallow picture in my stash. With watercolor I made a landscape background and glued the swallow onto it. Added a part of the lyric to the page and some other marks.
Look at him fly, fly away, fly away.
December 29 2019: Day 5 of the TOP 2000 blog party:
These are my songs for today:
Nr 791 Waves by Mr. Probz
For a monthly inspiration in my Mighty Networks group I made a page with waves. Well, actually it where clouds, but if you turn the page up side down they look like waves. When I found the tittle waves on the top 2000 list I immediately thought of this page and decided to use it. I added only lyrics to the page with a white marker. And.....ready. Sometimes it really can be this easy to make a page.
Nr 630 Driving home for Christmas by Chris Rea
I made this page yesterday, suddenly thinking about making something with dies from the Elizabeth Craft Design Planner Essentials. Use a black card stock background. All the other papers where things I had in a drawer from all kinds of experiments. The snow is from paper where i added moddeling paste through a stencil. I just teared a few strips and glued them to the background. All the christmas trees, the car and the big stars where die-cut using the above mentioned planner essential dies. These where cut from photopaper stained with alcohol ink. Added some golden lines in the car and around the stars with a golden marker. The text was written using two colors of Dr. Martin india ink and a nip pen.
December 30 2019: Day 6 of the TOP 2000 blog party:
For today I made a fantasy page and a page with collage.
Nr 530 Fantasy by Earth, Wind & Fire
For this page I started drawing fantasy flowers, a boat in the sky and lots of other things. After drawing all the outlines and text with a black fineliner I used ecoline markers to color the page.
Is it fantasy enough for you?
Nr 432 Time in a bottle by Jim Croce:
For this page I cut a lot of clocks out of collage paper. Arranged them in the shape of a bottle and used adhesive plastic to put over it. Then cut the bottle out and glued it to a page. The page with the circle background i already had, so used that. Added some text with a marker and finished.
Lots of time in this bottle.
December 31 2019: Day 7 of the TOP 2000 blog party:
Nr 129 Yellow by Coldplay
I started by glueing a lot of yellow scraps onto the page. Then I added various colors of yellow paint. On top of this golden stars by stencilling gold paint. Added some large stars with a handcut stencil out of paper and some small handcut paper stars. Added part of the lyrics around the big stars.
